Todd Hido’s Cracked Trees was published by Nazraeli Press in 2009 as One Picture Book No. 59.
The project originated when elementary-school art instructor Wilhelm Matthies invited his third-grade students at Lyon Magnet Elementary School in Waukegan, Illinois, to make watercolor paintings inspired by Hido’s photographs.
The resulting publication brings together four reproductions of the students’ watercolors and an original photograph by Todd Hido.
Each copy was issued in a numbered edition of 500 and includes an original photograph signed by Hido on the verso.
This example is No. 14/500.
