VEGA-PAL-B belongs to Victor Vasarely’s celebrated exploration of optical perception and geometric abstraction.
A regular grid of circular forms is progressively distorted to create the illusion of a sphere expanding beyond the flat surface. Through carefully controlled variations of colour, scale and geometry, Vasarely transforms a two-dimensional structure into an apparently dynamic volume.
This colour edition was published in 1972 by Éditions du Griffon in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, after the original VEGA-PAL-B composition of 1969–1971.
The present example is preserved in very good condition and retains its period presentation: a 1970s aluminium frame and dark mount bearing the inscription “VICTOR VASARELY”.
